Have you ever been working under the bonnet of a Spitfire, GT6 or Herald and
had the bonnet come down on you? It doesn't take much of a nudge on the
stay rod for it to unlatch and down the bonnet comes usually hitting your head.
After having this happen to me several times, I decided I need a solution. Here
is what I do now. A simple spring clamp on the stay rod joint should prevent this
from happening again. After a little research, I found that some use a hose clamp,
others a bungy cord. Also good ideas. The important thing is to use something to
avoid the bonnet coming down when unexpected.
